Andre Gunther

Andre Gunther was born in East Germany. He has always been passionate about photography. His first camera was a manual post-WWII foldout model, which he received as a hand-me-down from his dad when his father upgraded to a manual Praktica SLR. Enthusiastically he learned everything he could about photography by imitating his father on trips. His father, who was a business traveler and hobby photographer, has been his greatest inspiration. His passion for telling great traveling tales has infected Andre with the desire to become a travel photographer. However, socialist planned economy works differently.

After earning his masters degree in engineering, Andre joined a high tech company in California. With the advent of digital photography, he rediscovered his passion for photography. His great love for the outdoors and his new home in California provide him with many opportunities for photography.

Andre is a travel photographer with focus on the western United States. He specializes in landscape and cityscape photography and has recently started exploring documentary style candid photography. Combining his passion for engineering and photography, Andre is always eager to explore technology as a tool to create better images.
